Autodesk Sketchbook is useful for anyone needing to create quick and loose sketches and simple illustrations. It can be used for architectural design, industrial design, fashion, concept art, illustration, storyboarding, etc. The pencils feel basically like their real-life counterpart, as long as you keep the initial settings. Sketchbook is a lot less resource-intensive than other art software like Photoshop.

The 15-days free trial version of Sketchbook is limited in some important ways. The first and most limiting is that the free version of Sketchbook only allows you to have four layers. Even if you try to work with less layers, four is a challenging amount for any digital artist. Another serous limitation is a limited canvas size. In the free version you’re limited in how large you can make the canvas but in Pro you have up to 64 megapixels to work with on a canvas which is more than you ever need.

You can import your SketchBook sketches into AutoCAD and Revit.

Main features include (Pro version):

  • custom brushes
  • advanced perspective tools
  • rulers and perspective guides
  • X&Y symmetry (vertically and horizontally) and radial symmetry
  • unlimited layers
  • blending modes
  • gradient tools

About Autodesk

Autodesk is a pioneer in 3D design, engineering and digital entertainment software. Though best known for its flagship product, AutoCAD, it has developed a vast range of software for the design, engineering and entertainment industries.

Autodesk was founded in 1982 by John Walker and 12 other like-minded individuals. The company launched their first original product AutoCAD that same year. Autodesk has since expanded upon a number of non AutoCAD-based products as well, including parametric BIM application Revit and 3D CAD modelling software Inventor. In recent years, Autodesk has made the move towards mobile and cloud-based applications including Fusion 360 and AutoCAD 360. Autodesk has expanded its presence in the maker community with acquisitions like Instructables and Pixlr.

Autodesk is more than just its products or its acquisitions. It had an impact on everything from education to the job sector and even on business sustainability and will undoubtedly continue to do so in the future.

An easy to use drawing tool that bundles professional sketching options

Autodesk SketchBook is a practical drawing application that enables you to design various types of design and illustration projects using advanced sketching options.
There are numerous image editing functions that can be adjusted, such as brightness, contrast, color inversion, support for layers, crop, resize, and so on.
Moreover, Autodesk SketchBook includes a rich collection of brush types and drawing tools, including pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, airbrush, and others.
Since it was primarily designed for handheld devices, you can also customize the stylus responsiveness for each brush, and even create custom brushes with user-defined shape, size, opacity, texture and roundness.
